Here, mighty spirits dwell—beings of immense elemental power, guardians who have watched over their home for countless ages. But now, the balance is threatened. The great European powers, in their relentless pursuit of expansion during the age of colonial empires, have set their sights on a remote island still ruled by magic. As their ships land and settlers begin to spread across the shores, they bring destruction to the land and its people.
The island will not stand idle. The spirits, in alliance with the brave indigenous Dahan, will rise to defend their sacred home.
Spirit Island, designed by R. Eric Reuss, is a cooperative “settler destruction” strategy game set in an alternate history around the year 1700. Players take on the roles of different Spirits, each with unique elemental affinities, special abilities, and a distinct playstyle. Your mission: work together to repel waves of colonizing invaders before they consume the island with ruin.
This is not simply a game of defense—it is a battle of escalating power. As turns pass, your Spirit grows stronger, learns new abilities, and manipulates the elements to terrify the invaders, destroy their settlements, and heal the land they have blighted. Victory is earned through careful planning, synergy between Spirits, and the will to drive every last settler away.
